Finn Arrived This Week!

This has been a big week!

Sunday, the Keeley's came over for dinner and we had a lovely time!  They gave Hana her "new favorite" dress, which she now wants to wear to Kelsey's wedding next month.  Perhaps to the rehearsal instead?

Then, on Monday, while "the world" was excited about the new Prince (George) being born in England, we were excited that Cari gave birth to her son.  Finnley (Finn) Michael McQuiston.  He was 7 lbs, 4 oz and 19 1/2 inches long.  He's a cutie pie and we can't wait to meet him!!

Hana's Swim Class & Her Cousin's Babies!

Hana continues to take her swim class each Tuesday and Thursday.  Her teacher, Miss Wendie, sent us this cute picture of Hana and her classmate, Naoli, in their brand new wet suits.  Have Naoli in her class occasionally (and giving her some competition!) has really helped Hana go to the "next level" with her skills and confidence!  Hana can now hold her breath and swim under a bar and she can also "dive" down (about 4 feet) to retrieve items off the bottom of the pool.  In addition, she is really getting good at floating her her back and is now able to dogie paddle (although Knute tells me she does this holding her breath, under water) to the edge of the pool.  We are feeling good about her ability to "save" herself in the water now.  I hope by the end of the summer - or at least for our December trip - she can "really" swim!  :-)

I should also mention that I went to Angie's baby shower on Sunday.  It was a lovely event up in Morrison and Angie seems to have received most of the "important" items that they will need for their baby girl next September.  I forgot my camera, but here is a recent picture from Solveig's graduation trip!

My other niece, Cari, in Arizona, is due any minute now and we're hoping that baby comes very soon!!  Here is fairly recent picture her with Katie and Brett!  Cutie pie!

This was was from before, when we found out.  I think I forgot to post!?!  Or maybe it's a duplicate!!With her hubby, Brandon!

Celebrations!

Last weekend Kelsey was in town for her "kitchen" themed bridal shower and (first of two!) bachlorette party.  The shower was held in Monument by the Lindholm gals and was just lovely!  We had way too much food and fun!  Kelsey received a lot of wonderful new things for her kitchen.

Later that evening, the girls all met at the Marriott in downtown Denver, where Kels received some lingerie while having cocktails.  After that we (the aunts and her mom were invited to this part!) all went to dinner at the 9th Door.  The food was super yummy and we had way too much wine.  The younger gals continued on, while we headed home (via the train and a designated driver, of course!)

It was fun to be part of such a happy day!

Glad June is Over! Mom's big Move.

Last month was tough!  I drove to Michigan from Denver and Aunt Gayle and Uncle John drove in from Minnesota.  We moved mom (and Adrian - hi daughter Judy and her husband helped) into a new Assisted Living place called Bickford Cottage in Kalamazoo.  The specialize in memory problems and it is very nice - considered one of the best in the area by all accounts.

The move went smoothly and mom and Adrian seem to be adjusting.  Our work just began though. See, mom has been a bit of a hoarder for years and we could have filled up 3 of these dumpsters!!  Sadly, it's not even the 1st time I've had to rent one of these to clean out her places...

But we met lots of nice people who helped us along the way (like the family who agreed to mow the lawn for us while the house is listed!)  Here's grandma with aunt Gayle:

And had many miracles of help.  We traded "items" for "labor" and it all worked out.  We met our wonderful Realtor and his helpful wife (who scrubbed the house top to bottom after we left) and got it ready to market.  We hope it sells before fall.

We also hope mom really loves her new life at Bickford, although we still wish she would come to Denver to be close to us and her beloved Hana.  :-)
